Customizing Text Labels and Messages

Search Bar Pro lets you customize the text that appears throughout the search widget. You can change placeholder text, welcome messages, and other labels to match your brand voice.

Available Text Fields

There are six text fields you can customize:

Field Default Value Where It Appears
Search placeholder "Search our store..." Inside the search input field
Welcome message "Hi! How can I help you find what you're looking for?" Shown when the search panel first opens
Panel title "Search" The heading at the top of the search panel
Empty state text "Search for products, pages, blog posts, and more" Shown before the customer types anything
Loading text "Searching..." Displayed while search results are loading
Summary label "Summary" The label above the AI summary section

How to Edit Text Labels

  1. Go to the Customization page in the app
  2. Scroll to the text fields section
  3. Edit any field by typing your preferred text
  4. Preview the changes in the live preview panel
  5. Click Save to apply

Tips for Writing Good Labels

  • Keep it short. Placeholder text and labels should be concise. Long text can get cut off on smaller screens.
  • Match your brand tone. If your store has a casual, friendly voice, your search labels should feel the same.
  • Be helpful. The empty state text is a great opportunity to tell customers what they can search for. Be specific about the types of content available.
  • Use your language. If your store serves customers in a specific language, translate the labels to match.

Resetting to Defaults

If you want to return to the original text, simply clear a field and save. The app will restore the default value automatically.
