How AI Search Works

Search Bar Pro uses AI powered semantic search to help your customers find what they need. This article explains how it works and why it delivers better results than traditional keyword search.

Traditional keyword search looks for exact word matches. If a customer searches for "blue running shoes" it will only find products that contain those exact words in their title or description. This means relevant results can be missed if the wording is slightly different.

Semantic search works differently. It understands the meaning and intent behind a search query, not just the individual words. When a customer searches for "comfortable sneakers for jogging," semantic search can surface products tagged as running shoes, athletic footwear, or training sneakers, even if those exact words are not in the query.

This makes search feel more natural and forgiving. Customers do not need to guess the exact words you used in your product listings.

AI Summaries

Along with search results, Search Bar Pro generates a brief AI summary for each query. The summary highlights the most relevant matches and provides direct links to the matching products, pages, or collections. This gives shoppers a quick overview so they can jump straight to what they want.

The summary appears at the top of the results panel, above the individual result cards.

What Content Types Are Searchable

Search Bar Pro can search across all the content types you have indexed:

  • Products including title, description, variants, and tags
  • Collections including title and description
  • Pages including title and body content
  • Blog Posts including title, content, and tags

The specific content types available in search depend on what you have enabled in your Settings. You can toggle each type on or off to control what appears in results.

How Results Are Ranked

Results are ranked by relevance to the query. The AI considers how closely the content matches the meaning of the search, not just how many keyword matches there are. More relevant results appear first, making it easier for customers to find what they need quickly.
