Syncing Your Store Content

Syncing is how Search Bar Pro indexes your store content so it can appear in search results. When you run a sync, the app reads your store data and builds a searchable index that the AI uses to find relevant matches.

What Gets Indexed

Search Bar Pro can index six types of content from your Shopify store:

Content Type What's Included
Products Title, description, product type, vendor, tags, variants, pricing, images
Collections Title, description, product count
Pages Title and body content
Blog Posts Title, content, author, tags
Policies Store policies (refund, privacy, terms of service, etc.)
Navigation Menu items and links from your store navigation

You can choose which content types to include in Settings. Each type has a toggle that lets you enable or disable it.

Running a Manual Sync

To run a sync manually:

  1. Go to the Settings page in the app
  2. Scroll to the Content sync section
  3. Click Sync now

The sync runs in the background. You will see a progress indicator while it works, and a confirmation once it finishes. The indexed content count updates automatically.

Running a Full Re Sync

If you want to start fresh and rebuild your entire search index, use the Full re sync option. This clears the existing index and re indexes everything from scratch. A full re sync is useful if you have made significant changes to your store content or if search results seem outdated.

Choosing What to Index

In the Settings page, you will find toggles for each content type. Turn off any types you do not want to appear in search results. For example, if you do not publish blog posts, you can disable that toggle to keep your index focused on products and pages.

After changing these toggles, save your settings and run a new sync to apply the changes.

Keeping Content Up to Date

For ongoing maintenance, you have two options:

  • Manual sync: Run a sync whenever you add or update significant content
  • Automatic daily sync: Enable this in Settings to have the app sync your content once a day automatically
