Every Search Bar Pro plan has a monthly search limit. This article explains how the limit works, how to monitor your usage, and what happens when you reach your cap.
How the Monthly Search Limit Works
Each time a customer performs a search on your storefront, it counts as one search against your monthly limit. Your limit resets at the start of each billing period.
- Free plan: 50 searches per month
- Pro plan: Starting at 500 searches per month, scalable up to 1,000,000
The search count tracks actual customer searches on your live store. Searches you perform in the app admin (previews, testing) do not count against your limit.
The Usage Progress Bar
You can see your current usage on both the Dashboard and the Plans & Billing page. The progress bar shows a visual indicator of how much of your monthly limit you have used:
- Green: You are well within your limit
- Yellow: You have used 70% or more
- Red: You have used 90% or more
The bar also shows the exact count (e.g., "42 / 50 searches used") and a percentage.
Warning Alerts
Search Bar Pro displays warning banners as you approach your limit:
| Threshold | Alert |
|---|---|
| 80% used | "Approaching search limit" warning banner |
| 95% used | "Almost at your limit" warning banner |
| 100% used | "Search limit reached" critical banner |
These alerts appear on both the Dashboard and the Plans & Billing page so you can take action before running out of searches.
What Happens When You Hit the Cap
When you reach 100% of your monthly search limit, new customer searches will be blocked until your next billing period starts. The search widget will still appear on your store, but it will not return results.
To avoid interruptions, consider upgrading your plan or increasing your search volume before reaching the cap.
How to Increase Your Limit
- Free plan users: Upgrade to Pro to get at least 500 searches per month
- Pro plan users: Go to Plans & Billing and use the slider to increase your monthly search volume. The price adjusts based on the number you choose.
