Understanding Your Analytics Dashboard

Search Bar Pro includes analytics tools that help you understand how customers are using search on your store. There are two places to view analytics: the Dashboard and the dedicated Analytics page.

Dashboard Overview

The Dashboard is the first screen you see when you open the app. It gives you a quick snapshot of your search activity:

  • Total searches: The total number of searches made on your store since installing the app
  • This week: The number of searches in the last seven days
  • Indexed content: The total number of items currently indexed and searchable

Below these stats, you will see a 30 day search history chart that shows daily search volume. This helps you spot trends and see how search usage changes over time.

The Dashboard also shows your plan usage bar, which displays how many of your monthly searches you have used. This bar changes color as you approach your limit, shifting from green to yellow to red.

Top Queries on the Dashboard

The Dashboard displays two important query lists:

  • Top 5 popular queries: The most frequently searched terms on your store
  • Top 5 zero result queries: The most common searches that returned no results

Zero result queries are especially valuable because they reveal what customers are looking for but cannot find. You can use this information to add new products, improve product descriptions, or create pages that address those queries.

For a deeper look at query data, see Tracking Popular and Zero Result Queries.

Analytics Page (Pro)

The dedicated Analytics page provides more detailed insights and is available on the Pro plan.

Features on the Analytics page include:

  • Date range filtering: Select custom date ranges to analyze search activity for any period (7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or custom)
  • Interactive chart: A larger, more detailed chart of search volume over your selected date range
  • Full query tables: Complete tables of popular queries and zero result queries (not limited to top 5)
  • Recent searches modal: View individual recent searches with the query text, result count, and timestamp

Reading the Usage Bar

The usage bar appears on both the Dashboard and the Plans & Billing page. It shows your current search usage as a percentage of your monthly limit.

  • Green: You are well within your limit
  • Yellow: You have used 70% or more of your monthly searches
  • Red: You have used 90% or more, and you are close to or at your cap

You will see warning banners when you reach 80%, 95%, and 100% of your limit. Learn more about how limits work in Understanding Search Limits and Usage.
